Amazon L7 Sr. SDM Offer evaluation

Received the verbal offer today.

160 base
550 bonus
450 units of stock (that is 738k at today's price)

Year 1 &year 2 TC: ~500k/yr
Year 3&4 TC: ~450k/yr(excluding stock growth - hard to predict).

What do u think? Low, abv or high offer?
How room do I have for negotiation?
Anyone knows the L7 ceiling?

    Congratulation on an L7 SDM offer.

    Numbers wise - this looks close to a stretch top of band L6 offer (for years 3-4). I think you have room for 50-100k more - easily. Bonus seems pretty high - I’d shoot for 600 RSUs - should be achievable.

    Good L7 offer. You will start accumulating new stocks after the second year. So your years 3 and 4 will be higher than what you have here even with zero stock growth. You have a room for extra initial stock Grant's though to get your comp to 520-530

      Nope. Year 3&4 vests 50% each. With no growth, at today's price that would be ~290+160 base = ~450k which is 10% less than year 1!

    Base is low, but that's typical Amazon. overall a very good offer, especially if the stock retraces earlier growth pattern. Also I think Amazon offer assumes 15% yoy stock growth for your target comp and you will be compensated for the difference if stock doesn't grow that much (I heard this from the recruiter while negotiating my offer a while ago)

      As far as I have learned - you should not count in stock growth. Things get too complicated/subjective at that point. But good to know that Amazon matches if 15% growth is lacking. Do u know how do they make up? More stocks? Cash?

      Top of L6 band is 430 in bay area, lower in Seattle. You cannot exceed band in an offer without VP approval unless your VP has delegated this to the L8s in your org or something.
