Amazon On-site 5 times/5 teams/no convert

Curious if any Amazon folks could help me understand what’s going wrong! Interviewed with 5 different Amazon product teams for Sr. Product Manager (Hardlines, People Ops, Amazon Business among others) in last 12 months getting to on-site Seattle, every single time. No convert!

I can now identify the bar raiser in the interview from a mile away and can write/speak the 14 leadership principles perhaps in my sleep. Designed answers in STAR format including a reference to 2-3 leadership principles in each one.

Just can’t understand what’s not clicking! Help needed!!

You're basically meeting the bar and have potential. But based on the role or the scope of work that they need you're not the right fit. Ask recruiting if there's any notes they can share with you from the debrief, if not a fit for this position, are there any suggested positions that may make for a better fit?

Amazon recruiters didn’t provide me any feedback, only in one case I became good enough friends with the HM himself that he mentioned that his headcount got cut and hence the no offer.

Even though each interview round is different, its common to refer to old interviews if some finds red flags in your current loop. Maybe everytime you are turning out to be a borderline candidate and loops are resulting in cautious deny (like needs 6 more months of experience in managing project of X size) etc

Try hiring some help to do mock interviews with you. Behavioral Interviewing is a learned skill that you can crush with the right feedback.

Yes, an ex-Amazonian now at another awesome company in SoCal helped me a lot and even he was perplexed as he said if you’ve been called on-site so many times there’s still you could’ve done wrong

His current company doesn’t do H1-b else I’d be there by now

  • I’m guessing you asked for feedback each time? Have you interviewed anywhere else for some experience? Can you do anything that you can publish publicly to show your expertise and passion? Find a way to stand out from the pack. Don’t give up if you really want to work there. Or else try some other bug companies. There’s lots of good jobs out there. .

Standard operating policy - Amazon on doesn’t provide feedbacks. At least that’s what recruiters told.

Also trying to connect with a friend of friend who’s a PM at eBay San Jose. 😊

Strangely only after the most recent PM interview (back in Feb) the recruiter said that you should come back after a year as you’ve been here enough times.
