Amazon Principal Engineer (Principal SDE - L7)
Recently interviewed at amazon for SDE 3 (I belive) and the feedback was positive. How are the levels determined at amazon? I’m expecting an offer from Splunk for the principal level. Can/will amazon beat splunk? How likely is it that amazon will offer L7?
If you interviewed for L6, almost no chance of L7. They can maybe give you L7 comp if you were really good. Also if you were really Good, you can maybe reinterview
What would be a top offer for L6?
It depends on your role. Search it .
They wont. L7 loops are specially built. If its super positive, it may possible they will call you back for another interview loop with calibrated interviewers

L7 takes forever
I also had an onsite last week and did interview designed for L7. It was initially arranged for L6 and HM agreed to change it for L7. If you did for L6, there might be no chance to get an offer for L7. If you really want to try, you could ask another interview for L7 but HM has to agree the idea. Good luck to get the highest TC for L6.
Did you get an offer? I am curious if you landed with an offer at the end. I did my onsite last week and did additional phone interview yesterday. Waiting for their call to see either offer for L7 or L6. Please update your story.
I took offer for L7 PTAM roles and only there are 12 PTAM in aws globally as what I have been told. I can share my experience, DM me. I am hardcore product guy with non fang and 10 year in industry
L7 would require a different panel. All you can hope for is a good L6 offer. Nobody cares about Senior Principal Distinguished Staff Engineer you were offered in noname companies.
Is L6 the same level as Splunk principle?
