Hello, going on site for SDM interview with AWS. Don't want to share specific team. Any helpful interview prep tips please? I'd like to nail this. Thank you for your time
You can expect about 5 loops, mostly focusing on your past experiences as evidence of the leadership principles. There might be a tech question on high level system design. You should prep by looking at all the Amazon leadership principles and coming up with the single best story that shows this. Each story should have enough depth and context to take about 10 mins to cover. Think about the key decisions, how you made them with data, who needed to be influenced and impact results. Good luck!
Everything here is good advice. Also, really take a look at the leadership principles. They actually matter at Amazon. If any seem not to make sense, that’s a good question for you to ask.
@myps51 Would there be 4 interviews of 5 to 6 questions each on LPs? Would there be any questions to cover the resume and / or management case questions (E.g.: What would you do if your superstar SDE doesn't play well with the team, how would you build a team, etc)?
Can anyone post a link to these please? I wanna make sure I have the right one
Questions based on leadership principles and system design.
What's a good resource for system design? I've been through the usual blogs and videos
Expect multiple rounds focusing on tech, system design, leadership etc. Brush up on your knowledge of core AWS services like EC2, S3, RDS, and Lambda, their usage, pricing and security features. Review the AWS Well-Architected Framework and be prepared to discuss how you would apply its principles to real-world scenarios. They can ask scenario-based questions, so be ready to think on your feet and provide clear, detailed responses. The SDM role needs incredible communication skills, so practice explaining complex technical concepts in simple, easy-to-understand language, and be prepared to clearly articulate your thoughts and ideas. Brush up on your leadership aspects, discuss examples of how you have led teams and projects in the past, and how you approach leadership in a technical environment. AWS or Amazon puts a lot of focus on its core principles, so make sure you have a good understanding( just memorize) of them. Try to tailor your responses to the specific needs and goals of the organization. Good luck with your interview! Team Inteviewhelp.io
Loooool
Huh?
So, you're saying that only PM or tpm might be better fit and not a technical person? That's the first time I'm hearing this.
