Had a full interview cycle (phone + on-site) for a L6 PMT position. They down-leveled me and wanted to make an offer. Day later the recruiter told me the position is gone. They looked for an alternative without success. Different Amazon recruiter approached me regarding L6 position. Shouldn’t he be aware that I already had a full round? Should I push for getting a L5 or try again for L6 and risk full rejection after I cleared L5 already?
Totally depends on ur experience and expectations! there are bery few L5 PMT roles..No harm in trying L6 if you are certain you are not ready to compromise on levels..L5 to L6promotions are not easy as well..average 3-4years if you are doing better than ur peers plus in high performing team.
I recently interviewed for L6 and didn't get L6. Since then I have been reached out by 10+ recruiters. I don't think Amazon recruiters look at a candidates current status in the tool. They just mass email everyone they see on LinkedIn.
they or hiring manager look at current status in the tool if you are in process of setting up ur interview or called for onsite..If u didn’t get L6 and fine with L5 comp n role, take it or you come back again in a year or so and try L6(no guarantee you will land up with L5/L6 though)..how important is L6 for you? i leant experience wise!
They told me to come back for an interview in 6 months. They were ready to offer L5. For me amazon was only a practice interview as i have worked there in the past and had much better offers.
My recruiter has hit a new low. Lowballed with a L5 offer and then tries to convince me with “we have google and Facebook employees joining amazon for 100k less TC than the previous salary” 🙏 Update - I refused the L5 offer

i don’t agree, you dont own as many things n roadmap if u r L5 generally, if money is not everything!
