Amazon Sr. Manager role has a sizeable, high impact org of 50-ish people and a path to Director, but no guarantees. Smallish fish in big pond. TC: 750k Tier 3 exec role is at a pretty well known, smaller, publicly traded company often cited on Blind as a tier or two below Amazon in those ridiculous prestige/tier threads. Slightly smaller org, but role would report directly to C-level and has very high visibility and huge impact. Bigger fish in moderate sized pond (10-20B). TC: 850k. Stock has more upside than Amazon (but also likely more risk) Amazon WLB is harsh. Not clear if other opportunity is better.
Post the Tcs you coward.
around 750k vs 850k
Imo target the better title, if you hate it then you're better set up to go somewhere else entirely and who gives a shit about comp at that level.
WLB trumps salary for me unless the most enjoyable thing in the world is work for you
Tier3 exec. More TC. Better title. better WLB. opens doors.
Stripe?
Stripe is still pre-IPO, but valuation of company is comparable.
What’s your background, do you have an mba?
By Sr. Manager you mean Sr. Software Engineering Manager?
Yes, Sr. SDM, to use Amazon role title/terminology
So what's the typical career progression for SDM in Amazon or in the industry in general? Thx
Did you previously work as a sr manager already? Wondering since i worked as an eng manager with 12-15 ppl for about 10 years now (low tier company) and looking into applying as sr manager or director too.
Is Sr. Manager the same thing as Sr. Engineering Manager?
Oh yes sorry I meant sr. engineering manager.
Why is it even a question?
Was that what you were offered at Amazon?
