Amazon TC

Looking to move from Google to Amazon. Amazon has an office in a location where I want to move where Google doesn’t. Currently at 300-340 TC for L5 at Google. Any chance I can get similar TC at Amazon?

Only if you come in at L6.

Yes, L5 at G should be easily L6 at Amazon.

@OP, I am curious. What's the thought process behind this move?

Looks like location

Your comment about location makes me guess the location isn't one of the typical ones (SF/Sea/NY). What's the location? I don't know if high TC keeps up in other less demand areas

Yep The way it works is 1. Get an offer in premium market 2. Take a transfer and negotiate on keeping the same salary

I'm not sure Amazon will do that. But if they do, good for you.

How many years of experience and what type of experience puts you at L5 at Google? Most companies adjust their pay grade by location.

You'll get similar TC for L6 (more or less equiv to L5 @ Google) in premium markets. A bit less in Seattle (I think it will be something like 250-280) or Austin (more like 230). Notice that Texas and Washington have no income tax, so this might actually be more money than you're earning now (if NY/CA)
