Amazon TPM L5 to L6 TC Change

I understand that at Amazon your TC is often higher if your hired as an L6 as opposed to getting promoted. I’ve been offered the option of transitioning from a program manager role to a TPM role with the expectation of moving from an L5 to an L6 3 months later. I’m trying to gauge what the TC will be after it’s all said and done so that I can compare to an external offer I received. What TC have other Amazon TPMs received when going from L5 to L6? My current TC is $165 is a L5 PM.

I got a 10% bump. The promo process is a pain and took around 7 months. Not sure if the 3 month promo timeline is reasonable.

usually the 10% bump means that you were (still are?) underpaid. the guidelines are 10% or middle of the pay-band, whichever is lower. yes pay-bands can overlap.

They’ll start you at the low end of the next band. I left for Uber and almost double my TC.

Nope his promo is within a different job family. But I see the similarity.

Does anyone know what the max TC is on the L5 TPM pay band is in SEA? I’m expecting that I’ll need to negotiate aggressively during the transition from PM.

I think the three months corresponds to the next round of promos. I’ve been working with the team for the last 2 years so theoretically there should be plenty to justify the promo.

The SDM I spoke with indicated that the L5 TPM TC would be around 180 and that the L6 range would be 200 - 220. Considering a 10% bump, sounds like ~200k is the most likely TC post promo.
