Amazon Visa Denial

What does Amazon do if it seems like you’re ineligible for TN status (non matching degree) or your Visa gets denied? What’s the approximate timeline and what options do you have for team matching? Signed an offer with Amazon Seattle, Canadian in Toronto, would prefer to stay in NA 2YOE, 220k TC, SDEII/L5

Toronto is NA. Do you mean USA?

No I mean NA - if I can’t get into the US would I have the option of Toronto/Vancouver offices? What kind of timeline would that have?

TN usually goes with no problems for Mexicans and Canadians as long as your degree is valid and your criminal record is clean. I would not worry too much. At least that was my experience.

Join an Amazon teambin Vancouver, Canada. Then after a year you might be eligible for L1 if you want to go to the US

Do you know what team matching is like? Reinterview?

Amazon fahrenheit Jun 18, 2019

Your recruiter can forward your interview feedback to hiring managers for other positions in other offices. You should be able to get an offer for a different location without any further interviews, beyond a quick conversation with the hiring manager to explain the role and check if you're interested. Expect lower TC though.

TC isn’t the biggest concern - do you know how long this might take and how much choice do you have in terms of team?

Amazon fahrenheit Jun 18, 2019

It'll be very specific to your circumstances. The internal job board always has a lot of openings everywhere but most likely you'll be routed based on recruiters having past experience or connections with other recruiters and hiring managers. Some hiring managers would expect to interview you again, which would suck of course, but your recruiter should work to get you assigned without need for that. It's also easier if you interviewed at e.g. a hiring event vs. a specific position for a specific team. It took a couple weeks for me and I spoke to three recruiters and two hiring managers in the meantime.
