Stock and growth stalled; hiring freeze, rampant politics, lowered hiring bar, incredible technical debt, millions of lines of undocumented unmaintainable code, difficulty attracting talent due to terrible reputation, retention problems etc. All due to uncontrolled growth on steroids. Jeff maybe it wasnt a good idea to spend all of the profit on growth after all. You have created a mutant monster, which will die prematurely. Amazon rabbit, Google tortoise.
- Amazon GabeEvery day I am here another little part of my soul dies soon I will have no soul at all God save me God save us
- Not at all buddy, just a insignificant person crying on blind. Amazon isn’t a bad place much better than others but they have to reign in their pace of growth and have better planning else everyone fails together. That’s not a good place to be in at all or to attract and retain talent .

- Microsoft / Product TacoBossAmazon was never cool it was always the salt mines of tech
- Microsoft KxhdbnHiring bar was actually lower before. These days many people will choose Amazon over Microsoft but until 5 years ago, it was no brainer to choose Microsoft. To make the matters worse, tenure at Amazon was much shorter back then. Due to this factor and with exponential growth they saw in AWS, interview was the easiest among all big tech companies. Literally, half of grad students went to work for Amazon in my school and they didn’t even go to Seattle for full interview. Because Amazon needed so many engineers, they hired based on campus interview which was with four interviewers only.
