Amazon is asking me for my expected TC before I head on-site. Is this BS? How should I respond? I am interviewing on-site at Google the week after, obviously my TC expectations depend on my other offers. Edit: Currently 100k (not including startup monopoly money) medium COL, 2 YOE
This. Don’t tell them your current or expected TC. They’ll always try to revolve around that. Keep them guessing and try as much as possible to get the first quote from them
I thought it’s illegal to ask for current comp in several states, not sure how the law applies where you live or where the company is
They are asking for expected TC not current TC
^^ they can ask what you want to make all day, but they cannot ask what your actual w2 is/was...
no it is not BS. you should respond with your expected TC. then both of you don’t have to waste time if they can’t meet it.
They always ask that. Just say something like “TC is negotiable. I’m familiar with Amazon’s numbers and I’m sure we can reach an agreement.”
you don’t need to be so obtuse like many comments here. just tell them a number you’d like. it’s not a final offer. it will avoid wasting your time.
Role, current TC, YOE?
