Why is amazon hiring people like crazy? I have an intern return offer and many of my classmates also got the offer. Honestly many of them don't deserve it and I wouldn't even want to make them my project partner. I am thinking of rejecting the offer seeing quality of hiring.
Amazon chooses a quality of firing over quality of hiring. Very high attrition rate.
15%
Is it higher for new graduates? What about 1st year employees in general?
Why don't they deserve it?
Because I have worked with them. Helped them in their interview preparation. And I am not an expert but I if I have a choice I won't ever work with them. Most of the time is wasted in explaining what is already done and we eventually end up doing their part because they couldn't deliver.
Are you complaining about your own tutoring services and success of your students? Is this the most tone-deaf humble-brag ever?
The policy is hire fast and fire fast
Hire more and fire more.
Yeah I was a G false negative, can confirm this approach lol
what's a false negative? A good person for hire who was filtered by leetcode quiz?
Because of people who like who judge what others deserve.
You sound like a great guy to be around
We hire most of our L4s from internships. Not all of them join. The L4 bar is very low, as long as you are not a douchebag during your internship are hired. We are not like Google or Facebook who will ask you extraordinarily difficult stuff in interviews all to work on simple data parsing or easy feature changes. We hire engineers who can get stuff done, and that doesn't need a high bar. We believe that quality of people improves only with experience and Amazon gives every decent person that chance. So no, high quality doesnt imply they are going to get work done, and low quality doesn't imply they won't.
Its based on churn, 80% wont last over 2 years
That sounds like an exaggeration, are there documented numbers anywhere for Amazon turnover?
I am sure amazon HR knows it. Keep in mind, the churn rate for new graduate hires than for others.
