Amazon in advertising

Do you think Amazon is going to eat Google and Facebook's advertising market? Are they worried about Amazon entering advertising ?

The platforms amazon have are somewhat weaker than goog (search) or FB (social). Display ads has a crowdfull of competition. Amazon’s USP is the retail website and associate referrals. amazon will probably not compete directly with google or fb, but have a different eco system of their own.

I ignore google ads and don't use Facebook. Yet, when I need to buy something, it's 90% starting with amazon.

Coming from someone who works for a spamming company

Yeah its called advertising. Unlike the shitty static ads you see sponsored by online Chinazon

Consider our Chinese counterpart has over 20%+ revenue coming from advertising, I say Amazon has a great advertising platform to build.

There's also a big opportunity for amazon to move into ad tech. Amazon just needs to turn the in house attribution, bidding, and ad servers, and analytics into services. Arguably they should be much better at this than Google/FB as they see the full customer journey and have real money on the line when it comes to conversion metrics.

That is true.

https://adexchanger.com/online-advertising/year-review-year-amazon/ "Amazon Ad Platform (AAP) has surpassed Google’s DoubleClick Bid Manager as the most-used DSP for the first time, according to ad industry analytics firm Advertiser Perceptions’ annual industry report last year. “There’s a real trend where Amazon ad tech flies under the radar until it’s dominant,” said CSO Kevin Mannion. That being said, Amazon doesn't need to eat into someone's market when there's enough new one created every year. Offline publishers like newspapers and stuff will loose more. That being said, in my personal opinion, i think fb will suffer more than Google, since it's a product loosing users and credibility.

Amazon has real user shopping experience, so it will soon become the top in advertising.

And not to mention the data amazon can use from the actual physical interactions gathered from the go stores

Lol, I am looking to make a shift to Amazon Ad Group. Amazon is going to each everybody’s lunch . I rather be at the company that has transaction level data for targeting than some shitty signals . Can somebody give me pointers on how to prep for AdTech PM roles at Amazon ? Thanks .

Amazon is going to take share of retail vertical from both. In facebooks case, thats the only one they figured out how to fly-wheel monetize. Google will just have to replace that revenue from other verticals.
