FAANG+ people who got laid off, how long did it take you to find another job?
The recruitment preparation email said that approximately half the questions in the interview will be in relation to the leadership principles. Does that mean that half of it is just talking about past experiences and applying the STAR method to that experience and how it applies to the leadership principle? Wondering if the preparation email is overweighting the leadership principle questions. Thoughts?
They didn't ask me. It's a scam to distract you from leetcode
Yes amazon interview from my experience was half about those LPs. Such BS. Every interviewer spent half their time asking about past experiences. Lot of overlap too. Take that seriously if you are serious about amazon. I didn’t and ended up getting a down leveled offer as L5.
Assigned competencies meaning each interviewer will focus on a specific set of competencies. All of your answers need to incorporate STAR based on past experience. You will need to be very specific about how each leadership principle is used.
🙄
It's just not experiences and behavioral, but most of the questions would start with the "tell me about a time..." the good interviewers will try to go deeper and then discussion could be on more technical details, design choices, tradeoffs etc.
I have a bias for action
They are dead serious. 60% or more of my interview was LP.
When is your interview ?
Total BS. If you serious about Amazon prepare all imaginable scenarios you can think of. I didn't prepare, and I got so many that I was exhausted imagining and portraying myself as shining beacon of my team. In between I remembered it is anyway a practice interview, so just say things as they really are, e.g. no I have never done that, no I have never been in that situation. Coding didn't go perfect anyway, got a reject :P
My recruiter advised me to think of scenarios that related to each LP. That way I had something in mind since it's easy to blank out in an interview. It also helps you craft your message.
Every interviewer will have set of assigned competencies and most of them outside technology will be leadership principles. You get rated against each competencies. While you can relate your past experience in STAR form see how you can relate them to LPs and can be explicit about them too in your responses.
Thanks for the insightful information. What do you mean by assigned competencies? like system design, algorithms? or domain knowledge like networks, os etc...
