Amazon new hire equipment choices

What's the better option? Mac i7 and no desktop or Mac i5 and desktop? Seems crazy they are pretty cheap with Dev equipment..

Got an email to choose the equipment I want to receive after my new hire orientation.

At least as of last fall. They use a public domain as well for it. It’s like newhireequipment.com or something

Have to choose the lesser laptop for the option of having desktop though.

Microsoft 3percent May 22, 2018

I just get an Inspiron i7

Amazon VEwS62 May 22, 2018

Go with the i7 laptop

Microsoft Blah-Blah May 22, 2018

Depends on your role and what the specs are. You can always get a laptop and a secondary monitor.

Amazon ycti88 May 22, 2018

Who needs a desktop? Just use your cloud desktop and the i7.

Amazon AWS420 May 22, 2018

Who uses Desktops for coding now days? MacBooks are more than enough to get the job done. Just get two monitors

Be an ec2-user. Or go serverless.

Amazon numsSize May 22, 2018

Depends on your role, most likely those lab126 guys will be doing local stuff that are not on the cloud. But they prob have extra hardware budget.

Amazon YoDawg May 22, 2018

Just get the better laptop. You can always get a cloud desktop.

Amazon atmw35 May 22, 2018

Most Dev teams use ec2 dev desktops that can get pretty big depending on the area. Unless your manager mentioned that you should get a desktop go for the i7 MacBook or the xps with Linux.
