Amazon on-site after assessment

I had a brief conversation with a recruiter and passed the online SDE assessment. Is it normal to be brought out for an on-site without speaking with the hiring manager? Also when asked my recruiter wasn't able to tell me what level I'd be interviewing for - is level determined after the interview?

Why would you talk with the hiring manager before the on-site? To potentially waste his time and yours?

Sorry, I didn't mention that I'd be flying out and that's committing ~3 days to an interview on my part. If it's an easy "no" on their end we can do that without me getting on a plane.

Yeah, just be prepared for disappointment if the Rule of Stock turns you down. Other than that, enjoy the fakeness!

I know most of the words you used but I don't understand any of what you said. 🐿️

Depends on hiring manager and situation. In my experience HM will phone screen only to ensure no obvious red flags with candidate, prior to authorizing onsite. So if you’ve been invited for onsite without HM phone screen that’s a good sign. Good luck and don’t forget to prepare for leadership principles part of the interview.
