Thanks, Blinders for your inputs! I did completed my onsite interview with 6 round including lunch interview. I thought it went very well but got a news from HR asking for one more phone interview to gether enough data points. HR said that 5 people are not enough for L7. Question. 1. Why they didn’t put 6 people from the beginning? 2. Onsite was mainly for Leadership Principals. How about the phone interview? 3. HR did put me for L6 first and I asked HM to consider me as L7. Then HM changed the onsite round for L6 the day before onsite. Is there possibility they could offer me for L6 if phone interview is not going well? Currently, there are two openings, one for L6 and another for L7. HM is willing to consider me for L7. I believe that is why he changed the onesite round. Any idea? I hope one more phone interview means positive. Amazon L7 is not easy to get in. YOE : 25

1) recruiting dropped the ball and didnt follow the guidelines 2)phone interview should be LP based or probe a bit more on an LP already covered. Ask your recruiter. 3) itll honestly depend on the loop structure. If there were 6s on the loop they technically cant consider you for 7 because they cant vote up. If the loop was 7 and higher then the uplevel/downlevel decision will be made with the Bar Raisers blessing. 25 YOE jeez bro you've been working since before I was potty trained.
