This is for AWS EC2: https://www.amazon.jobs/en/jobs/498546/software-development-engineer Is it true the hiring bar is pretty low? I just learned about these Leadership Principles that they might ask about. The phone screen I passed was 2 Mediums straight off LeetCode btw. It sounds like I won't be expected to do much LeetCode at the onsite though? If so, thank goodness! I love behavioral interviews because I can't code.
What level? L6?
Depends on level. For SDE 1 or 2 there will still be lots of leet code.
They have something called leadership principle.
Looks like it's l5, so yes.. don't expect too much coding stuff for l4 and l5
Wtf
They are now full on "hire fast, fire fast" mode.. kind of hiring everyone who apply (<= l5) and then put them on pip quickly if they don't perform well in their 1st 6 months... Looks like this system is working pretty well for them.. don't how!!!!
This is hilarious. Hire fast fire fast. Don't spend your bonus money til you meet the contract requirements!!
Do you like working at IBM? I have an offer from them. Feel free to PM me. Would like to hear about your experiences there.
I am in for hire fast fire faster as long as it’s a VP position
Interviwed there. I'd say half code half LPs
I failed an Amazon interview as a principal engineer keep insisting to code in c++ and I wanted to code in Golang based on my vast experience in Golang.... I finished coding in Golang with best possible time and memory complexity, without using complicated golang features..I explained him the entire code.. still they rejected me... Later I decided to try at Twitch.. now I get better perks than Amazon at almost similar salary.. I don't like Amazon interview process... You better try at Twitch..
Amazon owns Twitch.
Yes almost comically so. Expect to spend 2-3 hours answering behavioral questions.
Map your experience to each principle in preparation.
I believe I've failed an interview with them in the past because I didn't know about the LP. The question was like "Tell me about a time you disagreed with a decision your team made, what did you do about it?" I answered with the truth, how I built a prototype with x tech to try to convince them that it was better for our use case than y tech, but ultimately conceded because I had 0 years of experience and was new to the team. Didn't want to just be complaining all the time on the first job, you know? This violates LP "Have Backbone; Disagree and Commit". :C
