Amazon onsite taking pictures of solutions

Why do amazon interviewers take pictures. Some of the interviewers took pictures and some didn’t. What’s the deal

Was this your first interview ever? It’s a common practice. Some use photos for notes, some don’t.

Nice

Because you have to take notes on the interview. A picture saves all the code you've written: very effective for notes.

Wow sometimes I wonder how did I pass school. I should put out ny questions more clearer. My question was if it’s protocol why do some take and some do not .

It’s not required in most places if you type the code or “describe” it. I don’t think I’ve ever worked at a place that required it. It isn’t a good or bad sign; maybe someone will write “I asked them to implement X and they did it perfectly” and not submit a photo. I think Google’s hiring committee is more stringent so basically 100% of interviewers take photos IIRC. But it just depends.

Ok thanks

It takes ambiguity out of interview debriefs. If a question of code quality comes up, the interviewer can refer back to the actual code

Oh makes sense I was thinking it was some happy/not happy signal

Some may have typed your code as you wrote it. Or they may feel that they can remember it well enough.

I do that in my interviews too

Saves me the effort of taking notes and removes ambiguity. Do it all the time :) doesn't mean it's a good or bad signal

Lazy note takers

Amazon Am A Bot Sep 9, 2018

I take notes and don’t take pictures. It is important to document how the candidate got to the solution and not just that he/she did.
