Recently I accepted a position with amazon. I’ve read online that you get two options: 1) they have a third party relocation service that handles all the details 2) I can receive the cash value of the above service and arrange for myself. I received a relocation PDF from my recruiter and it makes no mention of the second option. Am I mistaken that #2 is an option? If not, how should I request this option? I’d prefer to handle it all myself if possible. I think it will just be easier for me.
You will be reached out by graebel (they handle both 1 and 2) and they will have the details for you. I accepted amazon offer last week but haven't heard from graebel yet
Thanks!
You’ll be assigned a contact at Graebel, and they handle all aspects of your relocation regardless of what you choose to do. They account for all monies and are the only ones who really know what your relocation package totals up to.
Any idea when they usually contact you after you accept the offer? It's been more than a week for me
90 days before your start date
If you use graebel you need to stay on their ass about every little thing. Make them confirm in email anything they claim has been handled. We had to raise hell with our amazon recruiter to get graebel to ensure we had a place to stay when our family arrived in Seattle. We told them we had a big dog repeatedly but they kept trying to give us places that don’t take dogs and other general amateur fuckery at the last minute.
Not sure how it is with Amazon, but at Google the cash out option was way less than what I got if I accepted the different relocation perks. I am estimating half the value.
Maybe so but I’m banking on the fact that I don’t need half the services they offer.
It was 10k before tax for cash option, which yields around 6k after taxation. Really depends how frugal can you be with relocation..
What about when it comes to selling a home? Does Amazon/Graebel handle that and cover costs?
