Is it true that Amazon rescinds offer if you tell them you have a competing offer, but don't want to share it? This is after you clear the interviews and are in negotiation phase. It's for Seattle based position.
I wouldn’t want to hire a liar either
Meh. And how are they going to verify the authenticity of such offer? It’s not like they can call the other company and check. 🍆
You don’t have to show them anything, and they don’t have to believe you either. Don’t lie and you’ll be fine.
Putting aside the ethics of why one shouldn’t lie — ‘cause this is the internet in 2018 — you always run the risk of a prospective employer bowing out of a bidding war. You wouldn’t want a made up offer to be your best alternative.
The offers are confidential information. You should not share the document around
It is in our best interest as employees to share this information to force competitiveness. There is no reason for us to respect any confidentiality. After all these numbers do not only belong to the company. They also belong to *you* as *your* (potential/proposed) compensation.
You can share the numbers, you shouldn't share the document. And this is the perfect way to avoid being pressured into giving it
I don't think lying during a negotiation is an unfair tactic. Firms lie all the time about how one should accept x title or y pay but they'll be fast tracked to a promotion or a raise the next year. Most times that never happens
This is super true. A friend of mine fell for it and is regretting it big-time.
Most offers are verbal, you have to accept it before it becomes written. They can always walk away from you, just like you walk away from them.
This
They didn’t ask to see my other offers.
Lol how can that ever be. Im really interested in hearing about this
