I got an offer from Amazon which is pretty much at the top. I asked if I could get reimbursed for my part time Masters? I was told that it would be difficult but the recruiter will try. And then she went just blank. I haven't heard from her since. That was a week ago. The offer expires today. My thing is that I can accept the old offer but at this point it feels like I'm talking to a wall with no response. What shall I do, just accept the offer? Offer tc 240k Sde2
accept and reneg if needed
what the offer tc?
Why don't you send the acceptance today, you can always reopen negotiations if you get a better offer.
This is a weird post 1. Recruiters are busy people 2. They have nothing to do with the team, even if they are “off” to you (I.e. rude/lazy) 3. Would you have worked with them if they said no? 4. Do you know if she deliberately ignored you? It sounds like you were excited for the offer but is now butthurt she didn’t get back to you quick enough. she already said it’s a difficult request. The only important question is 3 and you know it Also I can’t believe people ask for reimbursements of education they did before joining the company lol. Brave of you to even ask. They probably hired you based on that qualification too
Let me clarify. I'm currently doing my professional Masters. It's an ongoing education. I'm not asking for reimbursement of what I did in the past.
I just wanted to know what's the outcome yes/no or they need more time. But there is no acknowledgement. So I'm not sure what's going on.
It was a long weekend. Just email the recruiter if they have any update for you.
I did yesterday. I wouldn't have but I had this deadline. I would have waited as well. I know that it was a long weekend and most people are off.
I don't think they would revoke the offer as interviews are time/resource consuming. You can wait and see. But if you feel there is little scope for them reimbursing your masters expenses accept the offer later today and send a mail to your recruiter saying you are accepting the offer as you didn't want it to expire and are still hoping that the expenses can be reimbursed.
@op - do you know your hiring manager? Reach out to HM right away if you know them. I recently had an offer from Amazon and pushed back for negotiating. The recruiter ghosted me for a week. On reaching out to the HM I learned that the recruiter had entirely falsely represented me to the HM and recommended HM to move on with other candidates. This is after weeks have been spent on getting to the point of having an offer. Fortunately since the HM had previously talked with me they knew something was amiss and directly contacted me, corrected my offer as well as is ensuring no foulplay happens anymore. My 2c - recruiters are not that busy to not respond in your situation. If so there is something not working out. You and the team hiring you invested a lot of effort and time here. Giving the recruiter benefit of doubt, they may have forgotten to respond - call them if you have a number. This is your job and career not theirs.
I tried texting and as a last resort to calling but no response. :-(
What about the hiring manager?
The team is probably not very excited to have someone on board who will be distracted with something other than work.
It's possible. But they knew this before bringing me on site.
It's fine with most managers if your side hustle is just your problem. At some point, this is bound to become a problem. Probably the way your manager thinks is that at some point, you will use it as an excuse to slack off. It could also be that the manager will use this as an excuse to screw you over, esp. if you slipped on some goals. He will be less forgiving, knowing that you could have spent more time doing work-things. I recommend staying put in your current job until you wrap this thing up.
Just curious, how much do you make in MS?
Ew why work for Amazon. You can do better 🎉
Amazon is not very bad honestly
Oh well, I couldn't get into GoDaddy. So I thought well, maybe I could get into Amazon.
