What happens if you don’t pay back amazon sign on bonus leaving before your year is up?
Is there a requirement to pay back? Thought it’s give month by month and that’s it
It's given month to month.
Sign on bonuses are normally split over two years, the first year is lump sum, the second year is monthly.
Nope, there was no lump sum for me. Just monthly installments for two years.
For L6+ it’s monthly. For L4&L5 it’s a lump sum the first year and month to month the second year.
When I started as an L5 (5 years ago) the first year was monthly. Many of the people I’ve hired as L5 have had the same
Then your bonus was likely above the threshold. Or you opted to go the monthly route. All L5s I know of the last 20 months have echoed this to me.
When 1st year sign-on exceeds 25k, it’s paid out monthly.
You don't pay back. The sign on bonus is paid prorated in your monthly payment. You will have to return prorated amounts of relocation benefits though
Hence "return prorated amounts"
You pay back only any relocation if they offered it up front
