Moving on to next round of interviews for Software Engineer (2 I’m assuming since I’m Sr level already). Recruiter asked total comp expectations... no idea what to ask for since no company I’ve worked for has had stock options. Currently at 125k base, 10-15% bonus with 3 yoe (just promoted to Sr software Engineer a few weeks ago) Is 250k tc reasonable? 150/25/75 or something? This is for the Alexa team which I think is Seattle
Usual negotiation wisdom is “don’t give a number first”. Worked for me, they will usually not push you for a number. Ask for the level too, just because you are senior now does not imply a certain level at Amazon.
They pushed me really, really hard for a number at Amazon.
250k for 3 yoe... Bubble bout to burst!
Hopefully not selling myself short, but I threw out 150k base plus a stock package to be negotiated

That’s the maximum of the SDE2 band. You can target 250K but I would consider 220-230K a very solid offer. BTW Amazon doesn’t give any bonus so it will be base + RSU. Stock is vested 5%, 15%, 40%, 40% in four years and you can expect big sign-on for the first two years.
So what would the structure look like for an offer of 220 tc? 150 base + 280k stock spread out over 4 years (14, 42, 112,112)?
Or would they give you 70k stock a year and just cliff vest at the 5/15/40/40 schedule?
