Amazon vs Oracle (New Grad)

Please help decide between these two offers. Thanks! TC: Amazon (Seattle): 112k + 80k(5%, 15%, 40%, 40%) + 26k/22k (first/second year sign-on)| $142k(first yr) Oracle(Bay): 192k (yearly TC) + 50k (sign-on) | $242k (first yr) Pros and Cons: Amazon: (+) FLAG brand, faster growth, greater learning maybe(?) (-) Low TC, team not assigned, bad WLB, PIP and toxic culture(?) Oracle (+) decent team with good manager/tech stacks, cloud-related (-) “BRAND NAME”, lay-off concerns, bad for career growth/job hop(?) Looking for advice on which is better to join as a New Grad from Career perspective. What do you guys think?

They say you should optimize for growth earlier and optimize for TC in your late 20s/early 30s.

what about people like me who started their career in their late 20s/early 30s?

I would choose Oracle. They are paying a lot more, and Amazon can be a shitty company if you land up in bad team. Atleast in Oracle you are getting good money.

OCI — Good manager good tc and good tech stack . What else do you need as an engineer ? SDE 1 you don’t get to choose team , so work for 1-2 years and jump to Amazon(if you want) for SDE 2 where you will know which team you will be working with.

Got to say you are one lucky new grad, probably worked really hard though. I would go for more money but don’t really have much of a say since I am stuck with a 60k new grad job software engineer job. #sad

Shocked at Oracle Offer!

Oracle. Amazon's hockey stick growth days are over. Whatever they offer you is what you'll be stuck with for the next 4 years.
