Amazon vs WeWork

Amazon SDE2 TC ~250k Pretty standard package WeWork hasn't given a number yet But I expect to be a similar level and number.(of course shares are paper money at this point) Regardless of money, which will be better for my future career? WeWok seems to IPO soon (this year?) Amazon is pretty stable and I know the manager and some people in the team.

Seems like WeWork will blow that number out of the water based on previous posts.

5~10 but I wasn't in the industry before.

Did you just compare Amazon L5 with WeWork? If you compare an industry benchmark level at a top5 company with a money routing entity, you truly deserve to go to WeWork mate.

Pandora JimMayor OP Jul 27, 2019

No, no, I think WeWork is going to give me a mid level title and pay. From what I learned, it would be something like 160 170k base , 1500 shares over 3 years with 110 per share value. And maybe 10~20k sign on to compete

Microsoft UMbR31 Jul 27, 2019

I believe WeWork is a front entity for something shady going on behind the scenes... So my opinion is going to be biased obviously. You should decide for yourself.

Isn’t WeWork bleeding money by the billion? I cancelled my interview with them. Also, not a tech company.

Make sure you’re not counting on too much of that Wework TC coming from stock options. Valuation has gotten far too high and the IPO is going to be a fun time. CEO even just cashed out 700 million worth of shares before filing for IPO.

hey, i got an offer at wework and also have several good friends there. wework is a total complete dumpster fire. run as fast as you can away from that place. come to amazon with me. amazon vs wework shouldn't even be a contest. one is a top tech company and the other company is the butt end of all jokes.

Pandora JimMayor OP Jul 28, 2019

Hi, thanks for the input. Can you elaborate a bit more why it is not a good place ? tks

WeWork Savlon Jul 28, 2019

Have you asked your friends what tech WeWork is working on? Enlighten me, wise one. 😊

As a wework employee, I'd say it comes down to how ambitious your work goals are at this point. If your priorities lean toward being able to more or less cruise in a consistent and reliable role, definitely go Amazon. If you're looking to work (a lot) more to make big jumps in your role and projects, WeWork might be a better fit. I love WeWork and the many opportunities for growth I've had, though a more consistent role sounds better and better every year

Meetup 92xms5 Jul 29, 2019

I’ve never heard of Amazon as a place to cruise

WeWork nORw58 Jul 29, 2019

Very true, poor description on my part. Point I was driving at was WeWork is only preferable if you're looking to put move up quickly and put in a _lot_ of extra hours and effort to do so.

I’m surprised how close the poll is. Go to Amazon if you are an engineer. How is this even a question?

Pandora JimMayor OP Jul 30, 2019

By other comments in this post, other people at WeWork think WeWork is pretty technical. Can you elaborate a bit why you think otherwise? tks

WeWork RPvk36 Jul 30, 2019

20% of the engineers clean up after the remaining 80. We just got an org wide email we shouldn’t push to production for the next 2 days because of a exec demo. Many managers are out of their depth, politicking up and mostly try to hire their way out of problems. Problem space might be interesting, but that doesn’t mean they’re actually being solved here. Essentially most eng teams are directionless and managers are mostly left unaccountable for now. Wouldn’t be surprised if their would be a big post ipo cul.
