Amazon work from home

Are there teams in Amazon (San Francisco/Sunnyvale) that allow WFH 3 days from home? I am trying to make a decision on an offer that allows WFH for a year and then asking me to move. I was wondering what my options would be if I am not able to move after that. Do you all WFH while working for Amazon?

I think its a case by case basis. I wfh once a week but I'm in the process of moving pretty far so I may bump it up to twice a week or even work out of a different office

I do work from home quite often (weeks) every few months and as a manager i do allow my engineers to do the same, working from home allows the engineer to relax and focus better specially on these new high density offices. As a manager i have found out that my engineers are more efficient when they work 1 day from home a week

You can strike a deal for WFH few days a week at Twitch (Amazon subscidiary)

No written out policy on my team. About once a week is acceptable

Is the general culture to work from office with exceptions as necessary?

Just to add on, post-hoc as an echo — it really is team and location specific. You can definitely get WFH; with some teams 3-4 times a week with others maybe 1. I think it’s crucial that the management understand and base this on deliverables, performance, and a balance to keep engineers fresh and stress-free.

Depends on your manager. I’m in Palo Alto office. Our manager is okay with WFH once a week and everyone on my team does that. There’s no written rule! One of the other manager stays far from Palo Alto and he WFH 2-3 times a week. If you are an IC, should be fine unless you have to work with someone else on a daily basis.
