As a neutral observer, aka not born in America, I find that I have been more racist/sexist since I moved here. I propose the paradoxical theory that America's problem with racism and sexism is because they keep talking about it. Things like STEM education emphasis for girls, affirmative action may have been positive efforts to combat racism/sexism in the past, but my theory is that it backfires. Why? Having institutionalized mechanisms or propaganda locks people into a crutch or victim mentality. Why are girls bad at STEM? I didnt fucking know this was a thing until I moved to America. Maybe it's because from young girls were told they are not good at STEM and so need to compensate for that. Maybe because people keep insisting on showing them successful role models for a job they are somewhat inherently bad at (that's not the intent, but the subliminal message is there). I had no role models when growing up and I'm the first person in my social circle that made it to America. Fuck role models, just do it. Next racism. By keeping institutions like affirmative action, you will always be reminding everyone that colored people sucks. That's not the intent, but the subliminal message is there. Why not move policies to be race neutral like help the poor folks. You can change your socioeconomic status not your skin color. Lastly, I don't know what they teach in American schools and homes, but from reading articles here and there it looks like they keep emphasizing on slavery, and keep reminding people about racism, etc. Why? This is fucking ancient history. Propogating this kind of heritage nonsense across generations serve no purpose. People can't even watch GoT without seeing racism (the part where the colored unsullied defended the retreat of the white characters). That racism DID NOT occur to me until I read articles about that episode. People in this country seem to be conditioned to see racism everywhere and have a terrible victim mentality, and yes unfortunately lots of black folks seem to be like that. FYI, the Japanese invaded and raped 'my people' during ww2 and that's more recent than this stupid black vs white slavery shit, yet I habor no ill will to Japanese people. Why? Because I don't fucking care, that's ancient history. Maybe people should frame their thinking from 'because I am born like this, I deserve special treatment' to 'how can I work to achieve what I want'. Wallowing in self pity or whatever you call it is not productive and stop obsessing over role models, you're not a 6 year old....
Girls are not bad at STEM. They just don't care as much as boys. But let "gender gap" enter and voila, cheaper workforce.
Based on the patterns in the propogandas, it seems they just need more people producing worthless shit so they can fill their tax coffers, cheap or intellectual doesnt matter
If you want to blame anything blame social media for not moderating this content. It’s not so much that racism dynamics have gone up or down but the cooks on both sides from the kkk to ANTIFA now have a platform and that content gets clicks and views. As such “the audience” is all Google and Facebook care about since they can sell those eyeballs.
Correct
Blame the radical feminist liberal cult for this
Uhhhh get your head on straight op. “Ignore it and hope it goes away on its own” works for basically no problem ever.
You've got to be an idiot. Ignoring is exactly NOT what he said. He said DON'T keep teaching about racism from 300 yrs ago, and sexism from 100 yrs ago; and keep giving preferential treatment
Yes, because ignoring problems always makes them go away...
There are more people that believe its a problem than there are actual bigoted people.
Nah, it's not feminist cult to blame. They would always be in absolute minority without all this sofa journalism feeding the fire. Topic starter, you shared my sentiments. In fact, I double checked that it was not me who wrote the original post
We just had a kid shoot up a synagogue, only several weeks after several black churches were burnt. Based on some of the kid’s manifesto, I imagine if we had more constructive conversations about race maybe he wouldn’t have gone down that path. Now imagine if he didn’t decide to go murder, he was on his way to be a nurse. Someone with that viewpoint responsible for people’s comfort/safety, he also could one day be a CNO or CNIO in charge of hiring/firing...people’s ignorance & resentment isn’t going to go away until conversations to find common ground and solidarity occur. How do you know what Black people think? How many do you know personally? Since you’re not American, please learn about what happened after Slavery. Jim Crow, Red-lining, the Southern Strategy (look up who Ken Mehlman is and his apology). There’s plenty of Americans alive during the civil rights era and the undermining of it that occurred afterwards. Simply dismissing it as “victim hood” I can’t agree with. The Japanese you talk about I assume no longer have power/dominion over your society...you can’t compare that to ADOS. And guess what happened here? The Japanese that society messed with/interned got reparations. Affirmative Action isn’t a reparation - just means our resumes won’t get thrown in the trash the second it’s submitted. Doesn’t guarantee a damn thing.
No. You cannot totally prevent psychos. Unfortunately. Not with school-level psychology for sure. (In fact, you can potentially make a problem a bit worse by triggering dormant idiots) You don't think that these morons never knew about slavery and how bad it was, and that's why they committed the crimes they committed, right?
Just like not all Muslims are hate filled jihadists nor is white supremacy sweeping the nation. Both are used as political footballs to keep the followers believing. Think for yourself.
