~5yr experience (3yr India, 2yrs US) in Analog circuit design across domains such as PLL, High speed IO's, General purpose IO's, memory design, I'm currently working on the development of Memory arrays in one of the latest memory technology. The work is challenging with some of the great minds as team mates but niche and less TC. I am concerned that continue working in this area might reduce the opportunities to switch jobs. Would appreciate guidance from folks here on the career growth scope of Analog designers in coming years and opportunities in Bay area with best places to work in terms of culture and TC. Also, if working in memory design is better than analog design in terms of future prospects. Thanks. TC - 155k
I worked as a memory circuit design engineer (SRAM) and got out of it. It's good work but not rewarded enough. Jobs are less too. You'll be branded as a memory designer for life. Very few teams in India China and US do this. It's all going to vendor companies. I do RTL work now. Much better.
Can't comment on Pure Analog design. But get out of memory circuit design (SRAM) unless you're really good at it and your management chain values your work.
what you are saying is the truth. For broader jobs.. validation > rtl > physical design > other domains
Thanks for the advice! Will consider this.
I used to do NAND peripheral analog design, but got out of it because I found it boring. I agree that working on memory or pure analog will reduce opportunities to switch jobs. That’s also one of reasons I have left. If you are keen on analog, it is better to do high speed analog/mixed signal like data converters, Serdes/PLL etc…
Can you tell me the TC in micron?
How difficult is to move US from intel india ?

Seattle people, what cars do you have? 🙂
You are working in an amazing field and I am very impressed. I wish it was respected more and offered a higher TC.
Thanks!
