As per Dell policy is it required to be an employee till Jan 31, to get annual bonus? Is their a prorated bonus if someone leaves before that? TC 185K
Why don't you ask your HR
I wish I could, but don’t want to let them know about my future plans
You do not get a prorated bonus or vacation payout for leaving, unless the reason is RIF.
So it’s payout date ie probably March ? Even if I stay employed till 31st January(I believe which is bonus qualifying period), I still won’t be eligible for annual bonus.
Yes, it's like that for all companies
Check your employee handbook for clear policy. My previous company paid out even though I left before the payout date since I was employed through the bonus qualifying period.
You need to stay employed at Dell till bonus pay out in March.
You need to stay until bonus payout or try to negotiate it as part of an agreement to give them excessive notice (if you are important enough to have this kind of leverage).
Thank you everyone for the information. My offer letter doesn’t mention the policy about the annual bonus payout. Where can I read more about the Dell policy about annual bonus?
Does anyone know the exact payout?
Typically if you leave before bonus payout you don’t get it at all. Doesn’t matter if you were there.
"Typically". I was at a company where I left before the bonus payout and still got my bonus. It just depends on the bonus policy for each company.
That’s awesome! However typical practice is to not pay out bonuses unless you’re an employee at the time of payout. There ARE outliers out there that do the right thing, same with things like PTO payouts.
