Trying to decide our next vacation destination. Naturalized citizen of US, travelled most places in continental US. Indian and do not want to visit India for the ritual vacation this time (you just end up wasting time meeting “relatives”). Any advice?
I guess it depends on what you are wanting to get out of the vacation. Tropical islands vs. Historical Europe are very different. It’s hard to make a recommend. If you like adventure, do NZ If you want relaxation, do the islands If you like architecture and history, do the castles or Europe.
Ok it was a typo , Fiji is what I meant. Japan is in my mind but is gets too humid during summer. Any one who has experienced Japan in summer here ?
Depending on when your're planning to do the trip. Japan in mid April is a good time. And NZ in mid December on wards is a good time to visit. And as others mentioned, what are you trying to get out of the trip.

Fuji Islands? I wish they had some geography questions prior to obtaining citizenship.
Because all us citizens just know about geography?
