Anti anxiety/lower stress?

I often get very anxious and stressed out when a sprint is ending and work really hard to finish all my tasks. I'm not alone in this on my team.

I've tried l-theanine but it seems to have no effect on me. Any other suggestions? I don't want anything from big pharma.

Edit: I exercise daily and drink moderately on some weekends. Helps a little.

Commit to less work than you think you can get done during sprint planning.

Idk if you are junior, but thatโ€™s not normal. You have a bad SDM. *You* should decide how much work you can get done in a sprint, commit to that, and make adjustments if you fail to meet that commitment.

Fuck your SDM with a burning torch right in his asshole. If he is making u mental, he deserves that much.

If you pointed out that too much work is put into the sprint (especially since you're not the only one on the team experiencing this), do you think the SDM would acknowledge and adapt?

I recommend reading up on Stoicism. This ancient philosophy has some pretty good tools to handle modern day stress. The core of stoicism is to completely surrender to things that we have no control over and completely focus our energies to things over which we have control.

Drinking is never an alternative to stress it makes you feel so momentarily but it causes indeed more stress !!

Try natural herbs, you can try Ashwagandha. Heard really good stuff about it, research about it.
Disclaimer: I aint a doctor and try at your own risk.

To old to play fake schedule tea party. I just go along with whatever and try my best. If I get too much work it'll flow to next sprint. If I run out of work I'll just grab more work.

Simple changes in lifestyle might help:

If you have anxiety depression, you need your serotonin levels increased.
    Dietary:
More complex carbs, whole grains, whole fruits, vegetables
Reduce meat protein, more veg proteins, e. g. beans
Also more chicken and white flaky fish
    Activities:
    Aerobic, 20 mins, 4 times a week
20 minutes of quite time (also moving, focused)
    Spiritual:
    Increase meditation time, do daily
Walk and talk, have self reflection
    Listen to quiet music

If you have just anxiety, you need to decrease levels of dopamine.
    Dietary:
    Decrease/eliminate caffeine
Avoid seeds and nuts, eliminate red meat, pink fish
    Activities:
20 minutes aerobic, every other day
    Spirituality:
    Increase meditation time, do daily
Walk and talk, have self reflection
    Quiet music

If you find kava tea tastes too bad they make capsules. I find it helpful occasionally.

If you can find an extra half hour a night to rest, getting more and better quality sleep (avoid evening screens, try melatonin or valerian) can also work wonders especially if youre on < 7 hours most nights.

There are some drinks that come with a mixture of ashwagandha and brahmi.

Read about both of them on internet. These are really good for everyone even in normal course and have the property to sharpen brain and memory.

Apart from drinks they should also be available in form of herbs and capsules etc
