Anti-chinese sentiment?

I’m not Chinese, but I’ve been seeing an increase in anti-chinese sentiment in the US as well as neighboring Asian countries. Most of the time the hatred was targeted to the govt, but the hatred/disdain seems to extend out to supporters as well, the Chinese ppl. It honestly looks dangerous, I often see people talking about China and Chinese ppl in dehumanizing ways. That they don’t brush their teeth, eat dogs, get disappeared randomly by the govt, and all that crazy stuff. This is probably what anti-semitism looked like in the past. Honestly scary.

You think all of that is new? People have talked trash like that for decades. Welcome to the real world

I am not sure what your question is here. Racism and bigotry are real. Unconscious bias is real too ... and possibly as bad in the long term due to is subtlety.

I find this comment racist. No joke or sarcasm.

Yeah, I’m sure the stereotypes are not complete fabrications. The danger is when ppl start dehumanizing Chinese.

China is a totalitarian regime which has zero considerations for basic civil rights and pretty much any rights. What comes to Chinese people en masse, I would advise folks just to go there and make their own opinions based on personal experience.

Yeah i lived there for a year before, probably not the most representative experience, but it felt very normal. Tell me about yours

So you’re saying that they’re nice people and that their government doesn’t indoctrinate them to hate foreigners and to believe in Chinese supremacy?

How about the civilian and military tech stolen on a daily basis?

Yeah i guess its not racist, but you would be at risk of dehumanizing someone based on political affiliation...

But the trick is, that while regime is nominally communist, it’s just an Asian dictatorship selling out its labor to foreign corporations while stashing money and funneling it abroad. Business, but very corrupt and unfair to their labor and their western counterparts. So basically this regime screwing us (west) screwing its population, and polluting planet like crazy on top of it. It’s freaking true evil empire

Chinese govt is pretty shit. If you are not gonna stand up to that shit and are actively gonna promote that, you ain’t gonna get any respect. Should you be discriminated against though? No. Same goes for the Indian government and its supporters. - Indian

I always wonder what should be the priority/strategy of countries in growth phase. Sometimes It seems like western folks sit in their ivory tower and think that every system should be like theirs. countries protection of gay/transgender rights seems to be a common criticism I see Americans make about Asian govts. But really should that be top of list? For example when you’re starting a company, the first few hires, D&I is going to rank pretty low on the list of priorities.

Who is actively promoting Chinese govt? What I have seen is that misinformed US persons start trash-talking everything China-related (including Chinese govt) and label you a spy if you don’t agree. It’s interesting to see these people hate China with such passion.
