I’m over 10 years of software development experience mainly on C++ programming. I also have experience of developing video conferencing app, knowledge of multimedia codecs and streaming. Also experience of Linux kernel internals and Windows NT kernel. But since I have never deeply looked into multimedia codecs, probably I cannot write down DCT code on the white board. However I think I can make my own video codec if I have couple or weeks to research it since I have experience of implementing most of part of MPEG codec except DCT. I applied a team in Netflix about a year ago but I couldn’t even have a chance to have phone interview with the team instead, the team told me my background was very strong but I was not the one they were looking for. Since then I didn’t try Netflix again because I thought the Netflix’s expectation as a multimedia expert is much higher than what I have. Now, just wondering will there be any team in Netflix interested in me?
What team are you looking at joining ideally? I know they did a layoff recently
There's no layoffs I am aware of in the last 5 years. And headcount has increased from about 1000 to over 3000 now.
Facebook needs video engineers :)
Which team is it? Is it Seattle office or MLP?
Video algorithms is a direct match. Check out https://jobs.netflix.com/jobs/861006

Best way in, is referral. Second would be, to connect with a recruiter.
