Hi, I am interested in applying for an SDE 1 role in Amazon Luxembourg. How is the work culture there? How are the teams and work? I've heard they are expanding. Does this mean a lot of new engineers or internal transfers? What's the salary for a new grad SDE role there? Is it better to apply for a different location in the EU?
How do you get into Luxembourg? It’s so tiny
They have six seater planes that land there.
Tech teams I’ve interacted with there tend to focus on pan-EU issues: cross-border fulfillment, multi-country listings, tax engine, etc. Most of the people I worked with there lived across the border in France or Germany, which also led to a pretty dead work culture. The campus I was at felt consistently empty and quiet. YMMV
Get an offer from them first before worrying about anything else.
My friend does. He told me that the tech team there is small. I have offer from another FAANG company in India. Wanted to check if it's worth relocating.
Working in Europe is generally a lot more relaxed than US and Asia. Normally 9-5 or 10-6. The pay will definitely be less than US. However tech companies will pay enough for people to have a good life. If you are joining a place that only has a few teams, then there isn't much room to move to another area, so might be stuck on the same project for a while. Dublin is not the only city with tech companies. London has a lot. Many tech companies are moving to EU, Amsterdam, Berlin, and more.
