My friend does enterprise sales at Oracle. He closed a fat deal last year that got him over $300k in commission so his TC for 2018 is $500-600k
Crazy numbers
Damn y’all, I’m in tech sales, TC $130. Only got 2 years of tech sales experience though
I’ve been in tech sales for a long time (embarrassingly high number) I love it. If you truly look after your customers, they look after you. I started out thinking I’d only do Sales for a few years but the comp is so good I never looked back. It’s a great career if you like customer interaction.
any advice on breaking into it?
Looks like you are at IBM, try there first. Since you have a track record there as an employee you have a fairly high chance of transitioning. We transition a lot of internal folks over to sales. If you want to get out of ibm, ping sales leaders on LinkedIn to make connections. Not all will respond but some will. All you need is 1-2 so don’t worry if they don’t all respond. Just keep trying.

Tipping culture is really getting out of control! Waiter gave me ‘a look’ because I tipped her 10% for ‘BAD service!’

So far so good.. MBA- Marketing and then Sales for 10 years. TC 290k
That’s awesome. Would you recommend it for someone wanting to try something new, and coming from a customer facing support role? I’ve been doing it for about a year and it’s getting old, sales seems so enticing.
Yes! It's exciting but you live Q on Q and there's no grey area. You live and die by numbers!!
