Anyone Get An Apple Offer?

A month ago my recruiter gave me the good news that she got all the acceptance for my role and TC.

She also told me they are transitioning to some sort of new employee on-boarding system so official offer may be delayed.

Its now been a month since I got clearance from my recruiter (she even said welcome to Apple in her email...) and I am starting to get nervous....

I have already quit my job and am planning on going on a vacation but feel stupid now because I still have no official offer.

Anyone else get an offer from Apple, if so how long did it take? Also how common is it to have your offer pulled even after getting verbal offer?

TC: $0
Future TC: $185k

Why did you quit your job before receive an official offer?

Thinking you “deserve” anything can be a dangerous game. Look out for yourself, man.. no one else is going to. Best of luck, and hopefully lesson learned.

I quit my job when a recruiter assured me the hiring manager was interested in hiring me. But after I gave notice, she told me an internal employee had applied for the position, and they give preference to them.

I really think they had an issue with the salary I was asking for, because they asked 3 times during the interview process.

So I was jobless for 2 months (offerless for 1 month).

Edit: This was not with Apple, by the way.

      OP
They told me the official offer letter was just a formality and that i was already in :(

Sigh I guess I’ll just have to wait it out and hope for the best

I have a friend who got a verbal offer from Apple and it was revoked at the last minute. Be extremely wary because Apple pulls this shit regularly it seems.

Apple is on shutdown this week and in a few weeks will be be on another Winter shutdown until January. Lots of people are going to be OOO and unavailable the next few weeks. If I were you, I would call the recruiter and get this sorted out ASAP!

FYI Apple had this entire week off for shutdown. That said, do ping the recruiter on Monday morning.

Maybe it’s just taking longer because of the thanksgiving week shutdown. I think a lot of people were already kinda mentally checked out last week.

  • Never give notice to your current employer until AFTER you sign and the background check is completed.

    1. Week long shutdown company wide
    2. Apple is known for dragging their feet, personally I think they do it so they don’t get into a bidding war for talent (mines took 3 weeks from interview to offer letter)
    3. They can pull your offer I’ve personally seen it happen
    4. Good luck, not the wisest move...

I had already negotiated with recruiter and they got approval for the TC we discussed.

They told me the official offer letter was just a formality and that i was already in :(

If candidate received Welcome to Apple email, retracting the offer is unheard of.

It wasn’t an official “welcome to Apple email”

It was more an email from the recruiter which said “hey, I got the approval for all the numbers we discussed. Welcome to Apple!”

      Unnecessary and so not helpful.

Clearly, the OP regrets their mistake.

May be, you should refrain from adding salt to their wound. Just saying. Be kind bro.

I am sorry.. But if OP is smart enough to get into Apple I expect more.

I wouldn’t worry too much about it. It’s towards the end of the year and things move pretty slowly at Apple.

So are you saying there’s a chance I won’t get my offer until 2019?

Really can’t over emphasize NOT to quit your job until your background check has cleared.

My understanding of the process at apple is:

    1. Interview
    2. Verbal offer
    3. Verbal negotiation or agreement
    4. Background check email from HireRight
    5. Background check
    6. Your offer from Apple

the ONLY step that matters is #6 and the only step that I would consider quitting is #6.

When I relocated I didn’t even put my notice in until I had solid, confirmed relocation milestone dates.

Now you run the risk of being potentially unemployed while searching for a new job.

Anyway. My steps 2-6 happened very quickly and it happened in December 2017. Good luck and ask pointed, direct questions of your recruiter.
