You ma be able to buy VTSAX without a Vanguard account. I’d just open a an account though. Vanguard is the best fund company, IMO. All investments compound. It’s when you’re earning returns on your returns. Compound interest, look it up!

If you have to ask how to be a day trader, you should probably avoid day trading. You'd likely have better odds just playing with your money in a casino. If I remember correctly, a simple S&P 500 index fund that most companies offer in their 401k tends to beat out something like 80% of professionally managed investments in the long run. If you do want to dabble with day trading for fun, it would be advisable to only invest as much money as you're comfortable losing.
