So a couple months ago after a reorg, I was shifted to a new team in my organization. As I'm relatively new to the company and new to the tech stack here (perl), my performance didn't meet the standards of this new manager. So he set written clear expectations of what he wants and threatened PIP if I didn't meet them. This all happened a couple months ago and I've met the standards he put into writing since or so I thought. Recently he blew up on me in my most recent 1:1 with him and said I've still been underperforming despite clear evidence (meeting the same velocity as other devs on my team, been attending all meetings, etc) that I have not. He didn't clarify if he was going to take more drastic action like a performance plan but I'm afraid he's going to. Obviously I'm going to still try to talk to my teammates about where/if I'm underperforming but if this is more of an issue with my relationship with my manager, would i go to hr directly and try to get a team/manager change? Or am I fucked and should start sending out resumes (does anyone wanna refer me 🙃) This is all from my perspective and so I could be completely wrong here but I'd like to have some idea of what to do in a worst case scenario. Update: got fired TC: 130k 2 yoe Boston
You were fucked at “perl.” I would just stop going to work if I were you. Don’t even bother telling them.
I completely agree. I only have a few months under my belt here however and i just feel that would look terrible on my resume to leave with just that. Even more terrible than having perl on my resume. My plan was always to spend 1 year max here
Oh. I didn’t realize you just got there, and then it reorg’d. That’s some pretty bad luck.
Its a chance for you to double your tc. Fuck the current work and just leet. You will thank your manager later for motivating you to study and get the f out of that current TC. Market is good bro/sis.
I'm just afraid this will be a black stain on my resume and won't let me even get those high tc interviews
Start interviewing. Wayfair's hiring. We'll beat that TC easily.
I've actually got a technical phone call with Wayfair for L2/L3 (mostly likely L3). The tc seems high but I don't know about the php focus. It's better than perl but how much better... also I've heard conflicting reports about wlb. What do you think of it there?
You're probably a L2 and you'll see a 40% bump. If you're L3, you'll see a 100% bump but I doubt it if you're getting PIP'd. I don't do PHP. WLB is great.

Google CFO confirms 'large-scale' layoffs
It could be totally your manager’s communication wasn’t clear to you. I’d suggest you do both switching internally and sending out resumes.
Unfortunately it looks like internal transfers require more time than I've been at the company. And if I get PIP'd that'll also block any attempts to move around. I guess my real question is do I even include this experience on my resume or do I just have this gap
