Anyone finding it difficult to hire?

I have seen many people who are struggling to find a job because of their visa status and the current visa uncertainties. The PM and BA folks seem to have it worse than the engineering guys.

Blind seems to be helpful to people who are looking and I see many posts about job interviews and offers. So things don’t look that grim here.

I wonder how it is for the recruiters and hiring managers. Are they finding it difficult in the past year or so too?

My boss is Indian, and he told me in a recent 1-on-1 that he refuses to hire any manager who is not on H1b from India. I brought up the fact that he could hire someone who has their GC or hire a citizen.. to which he replied ... americans just aren’t good enough.

He’s getting his cut. Agency will pay him kickbacks for hiring another H1B.

You should definitely report him immediately to HR and the Dept of Labor

What if the Americans are actually not good enough? 😀 JK.

I think this is stupid. He cannot generalize and say Americans aren’t good enough. Or, for that matter, anyone. Everyone has good and strong candidates. He must have been just arrogant.

Recruiters and HM are mostly Indians. Indians will not hire anyone other than fellow Indians. Rest is all smoke and mirrors.

Yes they do hire others sometime but that is to protect themselves from being labeled discriminatory.

My director is Indian, and extends offers to everyone that the hiring committee recommends unless the candidate is Indian. He’s only extended an offer to one Indian in the 2 years since he’s started.

Why not just hire all the SaveJobsUSA people who claim to have lost their jobs due to H1B and H4? Then the lawsuit will be dismissed. These Americans get the job and foreign workers get the visa. It's win win. Why is no one doing that? Recruiters, are you having trouble locating those Americans who lost their job bc of the H1B?

If they were halfway decent engineers, they wouldn't be getting replaced by H-1Bs from shitty consulting firms 😂

How many can Leetcode? Its a pretty simple mechanism to test.

    • They probably expect the companies to give them a job and then train them. Thats how it used to work in Detroit car factories.

You are right. That is the expectation. But this ain't the 50s. Everyone is in the same boat -- how to aquire advanced skills? A lot of these skills can't be taught to everyone unfortunately.

@Infy I think you should have just commented in Hindi bro. I read that twice and it was goddamn difficult to parse :) This is the first time I ever seen somone proud of the fact that they are working for Infy tho. Good fo you!! But please stop gaming the fucking system and applying for 3 visas per candidate for 25 different clients. There are ethics and then there is Infy and TCS. The abuse has now made everyone vulnerable.

Lol. Ranveer, I think it’s just the image Infosys has right now. But it’s really difficult to get a visa filed with Infosys. It takes 20 people to approve one person’s US assignment. Then an Immigraton team ( - which is fucking useless, btw) to get through to USCIS. There is no chance in hell that they file multiple visas for the same person. I have been here long enough to know that.
Then I know many small consultancies which create fake resumes and do multiple applications. So I can understand where some people might be coming from.

I am trying to move out of Infosys myself, but galat laanchan sahi nahi hai 😂😂

if you say so. par maine khud kafi infy ke bando se suna hain ki 3,4 client ke pas bheja hain, kiso ek se aa hi jayega etx. anyways all the best for moving out of infy!

Haan. Wo Sahi suna hai. Client letter k liye puchte hain multiple clients ko. Jahan se bhi mil jaye. Mera apna hi client kisi naye bande ko invite letter nahi deta. Ab if I want to move out then Infosys doesn’t have a way to get a replacement for me. But file ek hi karte hain.

Because of you all we suffer. Stupid companies like infosys pay 60-70k in the Bay Area and bring people on site to work. Incompetent people who are ready to work for pennies. There should be a cap on consultancy companies like infy/tcs/wipro to make the applications for h-1b. It’s stupid to apply for 35-45k h1b per year and take other’s visa share.

Chill out man. Your reasons are baseless. But you accept that you’re just ranting gains you my sympathies. LOL.
I don’t support the current H1 structure myself. But I’m not going ahead and blaming something or someone else.

BTW, you asking TC in the end is like comparing dick sizes in sword fight. WTF 😂 Go to college again and have some chyavanprash this time.

Bruh. I just want to make the point how underpaid u guys are and desperate to come to USA at the cost of having poor living conditions and having no clue how difficult it is to survive here. Infosys alone takes about 17-18k h-1b out of 80k h-1. It has to stop now
      Oct 31, 2018
    • Infosys / Product LoremIpsss
      Underpaid? Yea. Point made.
Desperate? You came to the US to study FOR an H1. At least have a mirror to look into?
Poor living conditions? LOL. Bro, I live pretty well. Thanks!

But in all seriousness, dude... you look frustrated. I have been there. I can understand where you’re coming from. If you ever need anyone to talk to, bruh is here.

No I didn’t come to usa to get h-1. I came to update my skills and increase my knowledge. H-1 was the least thing I cared about till infosys and other companies made it difficult for people like us to get visas. Till 2011-2012 it was easy to get h-1. So no, your assumption is wrong.

You started caring about it once the demand for it exploded and then the government started making it more stringent. You didn’t care earlier. How convenient.

Anyways, I’m done. Have fun sulking and blaming. The question everyone came here for was anyways not for people like us. 🤞🏻

smh for H1Bs. I have had the opportunity of working with some incredibly talented and hardworking people. This is disheartening. Saddened by all this rhetoric.
