The pain in the trapezius doesn't go. It's worse in the right shoulder than left, I am guessing due to the use of mouse/touchpad. I am literally at using my office computer 8 hours a day, and personal laptop 4 hours a day. Anyone had to deal with it? Did having a standing desk or ergonomical mouse help? Did pillow changes help? Any other tips? I am planning to schedule a few chiropractor sessions.
Start going to the gym
“Treat Your Own Neck”, McKenzie
Go see a chiropractic doctor
Also consider acupuncture.
Sure, and also hire a Brazilian witch doctor.
You should try jerking off less and reading more. Lots of western hospitals employ acupuncturists for pain management. Your insurance covers it.
Try massage, Bet you have a very tight muscle or two in your back
I tried swedish massage, that only helped a day and then things were back to normal. I haven't tried a chiropractic massage as yet.
I would also recommend massage or deep tissue massage.
How often should one go for those? For me, they only provide temporary relief like for a day or two.
That’s difficult then. Did they say anything why you may be having the pain? If you have already tried it, you need to look for different options
It’s most likely due to posture. I started getting paralyzing back pains after using one of those work out balls as a chair for a year. Supposed to help your posture but they really don’t if you’re not in shape. Ever since I started doing exercises specifically for my posture things have been amazing (also switched to standing desk but that was way after pains went away). Most people think about posture as just their back but your back is really the least of posture problems. Check out some work out videos about posture, lots of small work outs you can do to improve your posture which ends up making the rest of your body feel amazing. Posture is neck, shoulders, back and hips. You can improve lower back by simply doing squats, for upper back just get a work out band and do a few shoulder exercises. Hips are tricky and to really get a good neck workout you might need some weights but if you focus on shoulders and back the other parts will improve a bit on their own (really the difference between wanting to look good vs feeling good).
Yes! Massage done by a pain relief specialist really helps me. Also, physiotherapy was a savior. Chiro is a hit or miss. The other two options are more permanent. One solid advice I got was to practice breathing, which might sound obvious, but is not. Due to chronic pains, you tend to have shorter breaths and your body stiffens. Breathing and walking are really helpful. I really had to work hard on my posture as well.
Thanks, this is helpful. Pain relief specialist - is that a things? I was looking at chiropractor adjustments but there were also a lot of articles against adjustments. I really thought physiotherapy and chiropractor is the same thing, let me read more about it. Thanks, I'll look up posture videos, and try the other techniques you mentioned.
Look at Gokhale method. Yes, I do take massage from someone who is a pain relief specialist, has done a course in it I guess. He also helps me with stretching and exercises. Physio and Chiro are definitely different. If you are in the Bay Area, I can share my physio’s contact details. Dm me.
Stop jerking off
I think this is true, I am taking a medication and stopped jerking and the pain went away.
Stop jerking it so much.
False. Switch hands, problem solved.
I switched hands and it helped, I also have a trackball mouse now that I use at home
