Anyone moved back to India after 8-10 years in the US?

Are you happy? How different is your life? Is Bangalore my only option? My husband and I are from Mumbai and would like to be closer to home. How is Pune?

Take a break for a couple of months and check it out yourself

Just back from a 3 month vacation in India. But vacations are different. I was living with my parents, my husband wasn't around, I didn't have any responsibilities, no full time job so no daily commute during peak hours.

How did you get 3 months vacation ?

People are full of shit, no body works honestly even if you pay them, customer service everywhere is shitty which frustrates me.

Apple ais73jlC OP May 23, 2019

That's the reason we moved here. But there are several reasons to move back, at the expense of quality of life. I want to know from someone's point of view who made that decision and how they feel after going back.

True if I move back these are the points that stop be

I haven't moved back to India, but if I was going to I'd think about traffic, weather, population, pollution and customer service. As far as I know, Bangalore does not do well on any of the above, with perhaps the exception of weather, which is also starting to get worse.

Nobody does that.. 10 yrs is long enough to get the gc.

Apple ais73jlC OP May 23, 2019

Not anymore. My priority date is 2015. Don't see us getting a GC anytime soon.

Dude: 10 yrs is long enough to have different presidents and different immigration policies. Just be patient

Amazon Lollol May 23, 2019

Get GC, become citizen, get OCI and then move so you can come back anytime you wish and have best of both worlds.

By that time you would be so Americanized and wouldn't be able to move back

OP, in the same boat as you. Couple of friends have already moved back and are happy. But it’s hard to give up this H1 and go. “What Incase it doesn’t work for me there” is the biggest question. If it doesn’t work out there, I’ll be stuck. I can’t come to US once I leave for good.

If one goes back with realistic expectations, then it's hard to not like India. Agree that US has a better quality of life, less pollution, ethics, etc: We were born and raised in India and we all have seen these issues first hand, I don't understand why all of a sudden it becomes impediments for making that decision. I've been in states for 8+ years and will be moving to India in the next 1-2 years. Every country has it's pros and cons, list down your priorities and key attributes which you think makes you happy and see how it rates for both countries. Once the decision is clear, there shouldn't be second thoughts. There will be issues in India but learn to handle it, don't ever get the thought of blaming the decision to move. I think that this kind of thoughts makes ppl miserable. Btw, you should join this forum: http://r2iclubforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php/11-R2I-Dilemma

I would say that you should move back to India and start using your advanced degrees to solve the problems that you are mentioning. Others will follow and help you achieve that

I have few friends and colleagues who moved to back to Pune, India after their GC/ Citizenship. What I heard from them so far: Pros: 1) being close family/friends 2) Quality of life is much better in pune now 3) living standards is similar/higher in Pune 4) Lifestyle is similar at urban areas 5) Food, plenty of options. All big food chains are there too Cons: 1) Traffic. Unless you live very close to your work 2) Pollution/ Weather 3) Basic errands in govt offices still sucks and can be frustrating

What is current TC of ur family and savings, if you’ve made ~15-20 cr then u should be good to go

Apple ais73jlC OP May 23, 2019

Why would you need that kind of money? We have enough to buy a house is full cash, if needed. And we do plan to keep working even in India. From what I hear, companies pay pretty well now in India.

Cisco xxxZyu May 23, 2019

Wondering how did you come up with that number ? 20 cr is close to 3M$. With that kind of money , I would even retire here. Hell , I would retire if I had 5 cr cash in India
