If the US had a socialist healthcare system, better public education, and good infrastructure maybe we'd all be taking a pay cut there too. Maybe the people who live in Canada feel like their taxed money is coming back to them through these things
I took a Nordics position with AWS at 1/3 salary. I still keep all my RSU. Even at 1/3rd I’m still at the top end of all earners. The quality of life is much better, the benefits for my tax dollars are much better. My realized taxation is 33% vs 28% US (Fed, SS, Medical) and my out of pocket maximum for medical is less than $100 yearly, all my kids get free university, a functioning cashless society, low cost of living, and a shit ton of small benefits that we just don’t get here.

Facebook it's about whether you want to live in a socialist system or capitalist system. As someone who lived under both I don't think one is necessarily far better hen the other. It comes down to how you want to spend yout money. I am okay with being taxed higher then in the US as long as that money is coming back to me. The Canadian healthcare system is really good. People complain about wait times but I know a few physicians who are friends and they told me they priotize cases based on severity. No one has died waiting. Also post secondary education is heavily subsidizes by the government. At this stage of life these things matter to me.
