Enough of GC drama. Indians “skilled workers” worth their salt know they do not deserve the second class, crappy treatment. 70-150 years wait is a pathetic joke and so is the concept of “merit”. Victims are as much at fault for enduring unfair treatment as much as the perpretrator. Who over here is ready to take a stand and move out of US in near future if s386 does not pass tomorrow? Often the spouses make the biggest sacrifices and they have no choice or a voice. Let’s end the ordeal for ourselves and our families by choosing not to be a part of this unfair system. Who is with me? Life is too short to be spent on pursuing GC.
relax dude. Don’t get so emotional. Jab tak hain tab tak hain. Chill enjoy
To each their own. Say this to the person whose children are aging out, have mortgage on home, can lose job anytime and is stuck in limbo
I know things are hard. They have always been for immigrants, for some more than others. Sorry didn’t mean to sound callous. But things will improve. Keep the faith. And yes at the end of the day, if push comes to shove, we would have to go back to sadda desh. But lets hope good things happen
The 70-150years wait is caused by visa abuse. You should tell your ICC to stop doing that, other than proposing the shit s386 bill. BTW, passing this bill will only bring more cheap workers, which will also lower the salary of this industry. I admit that 70-150 years wait is not reasonable, but s386 or hr1044 is definitely a bad solution!! Just say no to HR1044 and S386!!!
Do you think I care how long someone else should wait if not born in India? I know a lot of us do not deserve to be in the situation we are. Does feel like friendzoned in an one sided romance. Companies reap the benefits and govt enjoys the fat tax that we pay every year. This is an epic failure of the system and its not on us. I just ask myself - why even bother? Life is way too short to get stuck in artificial traps like these. Time to cut the cord.
What you’re saying is that there’s no incentivize for either to change, which means they’re not going to change on their own. Which means you need to be the source of change.
I applied for GC in EB2 in 2007 and got GC in 2012 and citizenship in 2017. So I know it's pretty bad now but if another recession comes things will get better. Most of the PD move in 2000s was caused by spillover of unused GCs from other countries. Once recession comes spillover will come back too and PD will start moving again. So hang in there
I sympathize with the long GC waiting time. But I also heard about GC and H1B visa application abuse of Indian companies. I think the proper solution is a skill based GC system not first come first serve system.
But merit based is not even in picture. Politicians don't care about things not helping vote bank
Things are fair. Deal with it.
Why do u wanna live in this country ? I fear going to any crowded places these days, the healthcare sucks, not sure what to make of the prez and few opportunities for visa holders. Move on I’d say.
I moved to Canada last year after 10 years in the US. I was tired of the visa headache and the repeated unexplained rejection of PERM application by DoL. Even when I finally got the PERM approval, I realized I was in a queue with a huge backlog of at least 10 years and as much as 50 years. Meanwhile, Canada gave me a PR within one year of applying. I thought why am I begging at the feet of the USA when Canada is welcoming me with open arms. Immigrant life is hard in any country. Why not make it a little less hard by moving to Canada where your status is more assured, and your skills are more valued. If the US valued your skills, they wouldn't dilly-dally with giving you a permanent status asap.
How do you like it there?
It's been great so far. The best thing is that I can apply to any job in any city without worrying about validity of a work visa or having to restart the visa process for a different job location or transfer visa or other headaches.
There's already another post on this : [Blind] Check out this post! Did you leave USA for good? (Work VISA) https://us.teamblind.com/s/in2uJehN
Sad. Almost every body wanna leave their homeland. It is reasonable that this situation lasts for 30 years but definitely not for 70 years
