Why?
Uber credits too!
Yes. Unlike most credit cards, I have to pay the balance off in full. No going into debt.
For those of you with the Platinum, you’re not actively using it, right? What’s the point when it really doesn’t have much to reward you with for typical daily spending?
I do travel a lot. So it makes sense for me.
But it does reward your for typical daily spending. I actually offload all of my expenses to my platinum charge card at no interest - pay it off before the due date and collect 40,000 points per month. If you travel a lot, book hotels, flights, cars and utilize offers and you can quickly turn points into cash or redemptions for whatever (flights, miles, gadgets, etc)
Would you buy a brand new car? That's your answer. People who buy brand new car use Amex. Whether they should or not.
I don’t understand the underlying point you’re trying to make. Could be more explicit, please?
I'm saying that using Amex is not a financially smart decision.
Easy disputes
Just use Visa
only sometimes
MC and Amex are processors of the past. Visa is everywhere & for every1!
I use my Amex almost exclusively. I have visa/mc for the places that won’t take it, but that’s pretty rare any more
Why?
Corporate card
Customer service. I once lost my wallet on a plane. Amex sent me 2k via western union and a new card. I continued my trip (not international) and got on my plane using my Amex card as weak evidence of identity.
Yes! I had a similar incident happen to me in Peru. They immediately sent me cash and saved my ass. I was impressed.
Awesome rewards on travel. Works internationally without hassles, lounge access everywhere, automatic platinum status on rental cars and hotel chains, covers tsa pre and nexus, no spending limit, roadside assistance, concierge.. the list goes on.
I see you have the Platinum
They do in 🇬🇧
