Yep. I told the guy in the embassy I was applying for the STEM extension and now my visa expires in 2022.

Did you have to prove non-immigrant intent? Did the guy ask about your future plans at all?

Oh wow that’s nice. Did they ask you about non immigrant intent? That’s my only fear right now

I did go through this...just tell the VO that you will be pursuing OPT and they wont ask further at all as OPT is a part of F1 and hence non immigrant in nature.

What do you mean? STEM extension? New F1 for a new program?

Not if you’re Chinese, true for Indians. I don’t know about other countries, for Chinese folks it’s expires in 1-2 years when I went to school a few years back.

You had a 1-2 year visa despite being in a 4-year program?

      That’s crazy.

College gives a sponsor letter for the duration of degree, but certain countries get limited visa. Once in US they can stay even after visa expires, since the sponsor letter is for entire duration. But if they leave the country they have to get a new visa to re-enter
