I'll trade a referral at Careem for a referral at any tech company that pays competitively in SF, seattle or nyc

EDIT: We're also hiring for our Berlin office. Not interested? I'd still appreciate a referral.☺️

Careem is Uber's competitor in this region (middle east north africa) and 1 of only 2 unicorns in the middle east.

It's so freaking hard to get interviews when I'm on the other side of the globe even though I clarify that I'm a US citizen. I think my resume is strong. I atleast got an interview from Google last year when I was a new grad. But nothing this time. I have 8 months experience.

So anyway Careem pays alot and hands out large raises (for now) and there's no tax here in Dubai.

Would appreciate referrals for companies that pay on the higher end. I'll start getting taxes so I don't want to take too much of a pay cut.

Interested in all the big tech companies + unicorns + breakout startups + Twitch and Riot Games

Lol. I wouldn't want to live there forever, but I'd be open to spending a year or two there if it meant coming back with $$$ in the bank.

Like the guy above said. Dubai is a very transient place. People from western counties generally are here temporarily, usually to make money.

That said we're also hiring for Berlin.

No thanks. I would rather live in a country where my wife has rights and can drive.

It's not Saudi Arabia. These guys are alot more chill. Mainly because they need that tourism money.

By the way Saudi Arabia is one of careem biggest markets mainly because half the population there can't drive. We're actually solving a big problem.

I wouldn’t consider anything less than policy change in that state to be a “solution.”

Fun fact: I met the first female cab driver in Dubai. There were not many female cab drivers as they could not pick up male only passenger group which meant less money.

What's the salary range for a senior dev with 10+ years exp? Is Arabic a factor / bonus?

Arabic doesn't matter. Everyone speaks English. I honestly have no clue how much we're paying senior devs.

I got $72k + stock options as a new grad. I'm not sure how that scales up with experience.

I do know that at our first semi annual performance review last June, there were salary increments of 0-20%+

I'd be open to hearing more around the $200k mark, assuming it's tax free. Might vary, depending on COL.

I'd imagine Careem could reach $200k. Some other companies pay that much for senior positions and Careem paid me alot more than I could get from other companies.

You're only tax free up to 100k then Uncle Sam digs his hands into your pocket.
I'd be interested too but not for less than 200k in real money not fake shares

When someone earns more than $100k, say $150k. Does Uncle Sam only collect tax for the extra $50k?

Being Jewish is no problem. An Israeli passport complicates things in some Arab countries though. I think Dubai is pretty chill but check online.

Can confirm that an Israeli passport is a problem. Even visits to Israel invites scrutiny.

Lol, I just got back from ME. Uber was dirt cheap there! In Dubai, the cost of living is crazy high for a decent place. It'd be a great place to have on a resume though...
