Apple Pay doesn’t allow you to request or send amounts over $10,000 via iMessage.

As certain (insert protected class) are more represented in groups wanting to transfer over $10,000, this is discrimination against (insert protected class).

I know this post is a joke, but the $10k limit is not an arbitrary choice:

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bank_Secrecy_Act

The bureaucratic overhead to do peer to peer payments > $10k just isn’t worth it, Apple Pay cash would essentially have to become a bank.

Edit: classic off by one error, updated “>=“ to “>”

That law applies for transactions >= 10k
But they allow transfers <= $10k, not <10k

My bad! I didn’t actually read the wiki page and listed the boundary condition from memory. I’ve updated it.

A CTR is required for any transaction over 10k. So find a better solution for moving money in a legal manner rather than cry foul.

10k is always the limit. That's why we have crypto for money transfers.

It’s a matter of money laundering and fraud, KYC, AML policies. Nothing apple is hiding or “discriminating” from their customers

Venmo’s limit is $2999, so 10k for Apple Pay is pretty good
