I recently interviewed at Apple onsite for a full loop, after passing the phone screen. It's been 5 days radio silence from the recruiter - I'm taking that as a no go. I failed so here's hoping that whoever reads this will have better luck than me. I got 6 interviews on my onsite. I didn't do as good in one of the 6, the rest I felt I aced. So I guess that's not good enough for an offer. Some tips: I realized these guys really love their Java. It's almost like they ding you if you don't do Java on the whiteboard. Learn all, and I mean all Java data structures. HashSet, TreeSet etc. They'll all come in handy. All Qs I got are medium level leet code. But seriously, they just want to see that you know your Java really well I think. Each interview is 60mins, 30mins is tell me some past project / hard thing you accomplished, and then a system design, rest of time is a coding exercise.
Interviewed w Siri. Don't know IC4 or not, just said it's for Sr SDE position. And yes the time allocated for each interview session is as such. Interviewer will first get into a system design first then a leet code type Q - do it in Java, get them brownie pts
C++ is not ok? :(
Java dude, JAVA!
I did c++ for senior sde interview and passed. But the job role required it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Siri is all about java?? I would fail.
thanks OP — going through System Design Primer now. Would it help to read Grokking or Kleppmans book. Any specific topics to read?
No specific topics, though grokking is a great resource. They like to hear your thought process and how you weight the pros and cons of the mini decisions that you're making throughout coming up with the design/solution

Thanks for sharing your experience. which team did you interview with. I am planning to interview within the next two months. Was this for an IC4 level, Can I also ask if interviews were divided between coding and system design and with what ratio. Thanks in advance.
