there has to be some team at Apple, probably computer scientists and mathematicians with PhD’s (I hope) working super hard in the last couple of years trying to improve Siri right? Why is it still so shit?

Or do you accept the defeat that Google is just straight up better at AI and ML than you?

Nice canned demo. Very different than live.

Msft’s business model = watch, copy, and destroy.
They see a working business, copy, and destroy the competitors who have better products with marketing, bs, and lock-in strategies.

The world is stuck with shitty inferior products.

Getting rid of msft opens the door for better products with more ethical business practices to shine.

On the other hand, MSFT isn't gathering data and selling it like everyone else seems to be doing. I'd say there's plenty of scumminess to go around, just different kinds.

Gathering data with windows? Good luck with building distributed and secure windows

Msft is gathering data and monetizing it....

      Windows as a service anyone?

And don’t think they’re not fusing into a single identity...

Remember when self driving cars were showcased by google? It’s still not mainstream.

    The demo was awesome regardless.

    Ps: Siri is trash

Alphabet has had cars on the road for a long time. Also clearly different scenarios. Car on the road is much more conservative

Google X projects have no funding limitations, per what they say. So who cares? 😛

If Google Duplex messes up too much, it's not as big of a deal as...self driving car messing up at 75mph.

There’s a lot of cool things you can do when you’re mining the entire worlds personal data and using it to fuel your voice assistant. When you aren’t, the result is Siri. I still think Siri is trash though but from a privacy standpoint, I prefer Siri

Siri had a lead in this before any other player and look where it is now. Apple is primarily a hardware company. It shouldn’t pretend to do AI. Some heads must roll especially bill stasior who is the VP of Siri. (I didn’t say Microsoft is any better so think before bashing me :-))

No Live Demo for such an amazing feature? That shows how confident google is. Just like any other google product. They show that they have great technology but when it comes to execution and product to market strategy it always sucks and it ends up closing the project.

Yes, unlike Apple which makes everything perfect, like Siri, Maps.

This thread feels like punching down. It's obvious who is winning. Why be a jerk about it

Do You think the demo was fake? Like why did the supposed hairdresser assume it was a “she” for the client? I guess it is a 50% chance anyway, but I do know that there is hype and there is reality. Someday that level of AI will be there, but perhaps also this was 2 good demos out of 100 bad conversations

By the way, Apple has lots of smart and PhD engineers. I don’t know why Siri is like this ( privacy causes team to not have data and store user info maybe?)
